OPEN HOUSE THANK YOU – We appreciate all the parents and guardians who took time out of their busy schedule to attend our Open House last Tuesday. We hope you have a clearer understanding of our school’s curriculum and programs as well as our school wide goals. The Open House slide presentation has been uploaded on our school’s website.

DONATION SIGN UPS – Thank you to all the parents who have signed up to donate items for our various school wide events. Mele on the Lawn will be our first event.  Gr. 5 parents are asked to donate items needed for this event. We are in need of more donations; click the Sign Up Genius link below.

Please drop off Mele donations on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

Reminders and Sign Up Genius links for other events are coming soon.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS – Registration forms have been distributed to students. Completed registration forms should be turned into the office and will be processed on a first come, first served basis.

MELE ON THE LAWN – Celebrate the start of a new school year under the stars at Pauoa School. This exciting event will be held at the school’s outdoor stage on Friday, Sept. 7 from 5:30-8:00 pm .  Bring your lawn chairs and mats to enjoy the music of Pauoa Community’s entertainers. There will also be lots of ono food.  Proceeds from food sales will directly benefit Pauoa’s students.

NEW MASS MESSAGING SYSTEM – The Department of Education will be launching the SchoolMessenger mass messaging system on August 20. Automated attendance messages will be sent to household phone numbers. Other types of messages, such as announcements and safety alerts, will be sent to household phone numbers and/or primary email addresses. Parents will receive an invitation to “opt in” on their cell phones to receive text messages (see flyer).  To set preferences for different types of messages, parents may download the SchoolMessenger app from iTunes or Google Play or go to Go.Schoolmessenger.com.

WATER BOTTLES AND JACKETS – Please label your child’s personal items such as water bottles and jackets. Children often leave behind these types of items, and it is difficult to track their owner if they are unlabeled.

ATTENDANCE REMINDERS – If your child will be absent, please call the school office at 587-4500 by 8:30 am. Students arriving on campus after 8:00 am must come to the office for a tardy slip. We ask parents to support the school by reinforcing consistent attendance and punctuality.

WORDS TO PONDER – “The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it from you.”  – B.B. King
